Parastar, one of the nation’s leaders in innovative medical transportation, logistical and educational services,  announced it has received notification that the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch has named the Parastar Communications Center in Michigan an Accredited Center of Excellence.

After a year of preparation, the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch came to Southfield to conduct a site visit as part of their review process for Accredited Center of Excellence designation. The site visit included a review of the 20 points of accreditation and side-by-side observation of performance within the communications center. Following the site visit, a subsequent review of the 20 point program was conducted by additional reviewers from other Accredited Centers of Excellence. Upon completion of the reviews, the board of accreditation awarded Accredited Center of Excellence Status to the Parastar’s Southfield, Michigan Communications Center.

“This designation helps to validate the accomplishments in technological innovations and service excellence our organization has earned overall” commented Greg Beauchemin, Parastar’s CEO and president. “Parastar is now one of only 112 Accredited Centers of Excellence in the global community of emergency medical services. They are also among just 20 organizations in the world holding both ACE and the prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (the gold standard for quality in patient care for America’s medical transportation systems) designations. There are now only two such companies in the state of Michigan.

Centers who achieve ACE must meet each of the NAED standards, key among them being policy development and implementation, medical director involvement, and staff performance that is consistently at highest levels.

Accredited centers share a common goal of improving public care and maximizing the efficiency of 911 systems. The National Academies of Emergency Dispatch, through its College of Fellows, has established a high standard of excellence for emergency dispatch, providing the tools to achieve this high standard at both the dispatcher level through certification, and at the communication center level through the accreditation program. Parastar’s Communications Center is among an elite group of Accredited Centers of Excellence across the U.S. and in other countries that provide superior, up-to-date public care and efficient resource utilization to achieve maximum results in emergency situations.
